You know what’s tough? Finding the time and money to fix up your place.

When you finally get those two elements, sometimes it’s hard to even put your idea into place. You want to spruce up the kitchen, but how exactly?

My mom has a natural talent for figuring out which wall colors will go together, but I certainly don’t. If you’re like me and need some extra help, it may be of service to check out some awesome home improvements blogs.

Since you are a very busy person, I’ve listed some cool ones here for you that you should definitely check out.

The Ugly Duckling House:

This blogger, Sarah, offers great ideas for home improvement, especially for students with a low budget. She has remodeled tons of rooms, so whether your bathroom needs a pick me up or it’s your room’s turn to shine, she’s got you covered.

She offers tons of DIY remodeling ideas, which are great because they can make your place look awesome with a bit of elbow grease and a lot less money than you would think.

What is another great quality about this blog? HUMOR! Humor makes everything better. Go click on her tab labeled “cleaning and recipes.” I laughed pretty darn hard.

Addicted to Decorating:

The blog’s name holds true, Kristi’s blog will surely get you addicted to decorating. Like the first blog, she shows off some of her before and after shots of rooms that she has spruced up. You can browse all of her projects for some inspiration.

In addition, she also has a whole section dedicated to decorating! If all your place needs is some décor, this is definitely for you. Redoing part of your house is time consuming, and if you are renting you probably aren’t even allowed to, so decorating the place will do wonders.

My roommate and I got so many complements on how we decorated our place (which had looked butt ugly when we moved in). It’s amazing what a few wall decorations and some candles can do.

Kristi offers so many decorating ideas that you’ll be sure to find one that fits you and makes you go “let’s take a trip to the craft store and Home Depot ASAP.”

Apartment Therapy:

Bingo! Here’s a perfect one for all of us living in expensive, close to campus places, that have hardly any room in them.

Apartment Therapy offers a wide variety of advice, from how to make your small space look bigger to how to “dog proof” your place so nothing will get damaged. The pictures are absolutely darling (can they come do my house?) and they set their blog to appeal to renters and apartment holders.

They even have a section entitled “budget living” which I know we could all use. Making your place cute without breaking the bank? Now that’s what I’m talking about.

IKEA Hackers:

How awesome is this? This blog will show you how to take items from IKEA and “hack” them, by giving them a better function than when you bought them.

This is wonderful since IKEA has pretty low prices, so getting your furniture from there was probably already on your mind anyway. They offer tons of hacks and ideas, and you can even submit your own hack if you happen to find one out.

This will make for a great project that you didn’t even have to think up yourself! People will marvel at your craftsman abilities.

Centsational Girl:

Kate’s blog is another one that includes many DIY projects to get your place looking fresh. I really liked her “Style Files” tab, which shows you how to match things with certain colors, how to decorate above your bed etc, which will help you make those hard decisions like how many pictures is too many to have on your wall.

She also offers furniture makeovers, which is great if you want to spruce up some things you found when you were thrifting. Why buy something expensive when you can have something just as cute that you remade yourself?

You’ll like your own creation more since you have a say in what colors and style it will possess, and it will hold a sentimental value since you took the time to fix it up.

Funky Junk Interiors:

Donna’s blog definitely goes with the phrase “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” Donna will show you how to make junky things cute (um, is this real life?).

There is always junk lying around; whether that means taking a dive in the dumpster or finally cleaning out the garage, you’ll have plenty of materials to work with in no time. And think of how much you’ll be saving!

These are just a few of the many awesome blogs out there, but they will definitely get you started in your remodeling endeavors. Have fun decorating and don’t hammer your finger to the wall.
